Grandmother Ayahuasca, Mother Ayahuasca; these are some of the names that initiates give to the sacred and healing Amazonian brew. In fact, Ayahuasca possesses a very strong spiritual power that wants the best for us, just as a good and loving mother would.
Generally, an Ayahuasca session in the Amazon begins with the Shaman (we work exclusively with expert jungle shamans, assisted by a trained assistant and a translator) saying his prayers and shielding the ceremony room against negative and malevolent energies; then he drinks the healing Ayahuasca potion himself, and afterward the participant does the same.
After approximately 45 minutes, the participant will begin to feel the effects of the Ayahuasca; a variety of visions that can have different connotations: they may be multicolored and geometric, natural landscapes with psychedelic characteristics, or they may pertain to the participant’s deepest unconscious, where traumas, repressed content, and harmful behaviors are generally found, giving rise to suffering and unhealthy behaviors.

Like a loving mother, Ayahuasca will help the participant confront their deepest emotional and/or spiritual struggles and will also provide the support and strength needed to finally overcome issues such as anxiety, depression, addiction, and post-traumatic stress. After healing, Mother Ayahuasca will lead the participant out of the darkness and into a realm of light and happiness, where healing and psycho-spiritual empowerment continue; ultimately, the most advanced stage of an Ayahuasca ceremony is when Mother Ayahuasca leads the participant to a vision and communication with God, with the Spirit itself, to experience a telepathic conversation with the Supreme Energy.
The divine feminine of Ayahuasca is, therefore, a very powerful, compassionate, and constructive healing force; it also awakens the consciousness to protect Mother Nature, to rise above patriarchal social structures and materialistic-mechanistic worldviews, both of which are one-sided and the source of many serious individual and collective problems. Another very important teaching of the divine feminine concerns self-love, which is the prerequisite for broader forms of love, up to the universal love of the wise and the enlightened—far removed from the narcissism and cold self-interest that prevail today. Attending an Ayahuasca retreat in the Amazon is a wonderful opportunity to begin or continue a spiritual journey that undoubtedly brings many rewards and personal growth for us, our loved ones, and the planet. Undergoing an Ayahuasca healing ceremony in the Peruvian jungle is undoubtedly a life-changing experience.
